The Beauty of God

Beautiful music, art, and poetry can inspire us, transform us, and take us to a special place. If the artist was spiritual and guided by a higher vision, then the created work is like a picture postcard from another world. More than that, it invites us to reshape our consciousness, even for a fleeting moment, to experience that world.

Art can be of tremendous value in the cultivation of the soul. For, what may begin as a purely aesthetic experience can easily overflow into a spiritual experience. Beauty catches fire in the mind and spreads until it becomes an all-encompassing experience of the beauty of God. Continue reading

Ons Jabeur wows fans in Montreal

Plumbing the heights and depths of Ons Jabeur fandom

When last we left Jabeur, she had just won her first WTA title at Birmingham, and was on her way to Wimbledon. Well, she made quite a splash at Wimbledon, and got to the quarterfinals. The Guardian memorialized her 4th round appearance with this piece: “Jabeur wins hearts of Centre Court crowd on way to victory over Muguruza.”

Last week in Montreal, Jabeur thrilled fans by doing what she does best: playing some great tennis, and taking them on a roller-coaster ride of emotions. The occasion was the Canadian Open, a WTA 1000 event also known as the Rogers Cup, the Omnium Banque Nationale, or perhaps the Little Friskies Delirium Open.
